Welcome to our awesome cosplay contest!!!

With our cosplay contest now running 7 years and going very strong we welcome cosplayers of all kinds to join in. Our articulate and knowledgeable judges are always excited and eager to see new and creative costumes, by all those who come to our convention. The judges themselves know the craft, as well as winners of cosplay competitions themselves. From Sci-Fi, to Horror, to Video Games, to Comics, to Anime… MAY THE BEST COSPLAYER WIN!!!

PLEASE NOTE: TIMES/DAY MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE DEPENDING ON SCHEDUAL.

At the moment we have have 3 categories. Our Categories are as follows:
Walk On
Craftsmanship Sewing Division
Craftsmanship Foam Division

PRIZES FOR EACH CATEGORY
Walk On:
1st place = a prize box and a trophy.

Craftsmanship Sewing Division:
2nd place = A medal, a prize box, and $15 in cash for the skill of sewn craftsmanship in costume creation.
1st place = A trophy, a prize box, and $500 in cash for the skill of sewn craftsmanship in costume creation.

Craftsmanship Foam Division:
2nd place = A medal, a prize box, and $15 in cash for the skill of foam craftsmanship in costume creation.
1st place = A trophy, a prize box, and $500 in cash for the skill of foam craftsmanship in costume creation.

NOTE: Possible 3rd place for those who compete in each category.

NOTE: In the rare event of any prize change needed for those competing we will notify everyone possible. This is usually if more prizes get added for more places for those competing.

COSPLAY CONTEST RULES OF LIL-CON 2023:

GENERAL RULES:

  • Please sign up at Registration ahead of time under the category you wish to enter (Walk On and/or Craftsmanship). This will make things easier for Check in . We do allow last minute additions but PLEASE sign up ahead of time to keep things smooth.
  • If you are entering the cosplay contest, you MUST be in the room when the check in of all cosplayers are happening by the judges. 3:00 PM is the event. Check in happens until 3:15 PM. The contest commences shortly after that.
  • All general cosplay rules must be followed. This includes:
    – No actual weapons (props only), projectiles, or sharp objects.
    – No nudity. All areas that would be covered by a swimsuit must be covered.
    – No purposely offensive or overly explicit costumes.
  • Groups are allowed to enter together or separately. If a group wins a prize, please note that the group as a whole is given the prize, not multiple per individual person in the group.
  • All ages are permitted to enter, but we encourage young children to be accompanied by an adult.
  • Winners must be present for claiming their prizes.
  • ALL DECISIONS OF JUDGES ARE FINAL.
  • The understanding and consent that we have the right to take pictures of each contestant and may be used for future publicity of the convention.
  • We have the right to remove any contestant who breaks rules and guidelines, and/or who is behaving in an inappropriate or belligerent manner towards other competitors. This also can result in the banning and/or ejection from the event and/or convention.
  • Original Characters designs are welcome in all categories.

CATEGORY EXPLANATION

Walk-on:

  • You will be judged both on the look of your costume and your ability to act in character. Audience response will be considered when choosing the walk-on winner.
  • Both handmade and store-bought costumes are allowed!

Craftsmanship (both Sewn and Foam):

  • You will be judged on not only how good your costume looks, but also on how well it was constructed.
  • At least 70% of your costume must be made by you. All cosplayers must say what has been made vs. what has not been made by them in complete transparent honesty. Any cosplayer found of giving false information is disqualified.
  • Please bring reference pictures in case of obscure cosplays.
  • Commissioned costumes can be entered, but only if the creator of the costume is present to receive the award.

NOTE: RULES MAY BE ADDED OR SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME FOR FAIRNESS AND CLARIFICATION. WE WILL ALWAYS NOTIFY EVERYONE IF THIS IS NEEDED.
