Panels And Events


At LIL-CON we have 2 rooms for EVENTS and PANELS. The Event Room and the Discovery Room.

THE EVENT ROOM

The Event Room holds about 125 (standing room) or so people. The seating we have for this room is about 40 to 45 in the entrance isles, and then more area in the “overflow” area. In this area we usually have bigger panels take place including most guests. There sometimes are interactive events like “Iron Cosplay” which is easier for more space.

THE DISCOVERY ROOM

The Discovery Room, it is a smaller room that holds about 50 people, (30 seated). Very many interactive events happen in this room, but we have hosted lots of panels as well.

OTHER AREA EVENTS
It is possible to host events not in these 2 rooms depending on what the event is. Events we have thrown in the past such as the Hetalia Flag Ceremony, and others have been outdoors, on certain areas of the premises.

LIL-CON #6 OPENING CEREMONY
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 12:30 PM
In our event room we are celebrating the opening of the convention with our wonderful guests. We’ll go over all the events, tournaments, and all the other cool things happening for everyone to know. Lots of cool surprises in store, and a chance to meet some of the staff.  Time to get your Con on!

SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON THEATER
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 1:00 PMIn the earlier days there was ritual by all children, which was get up early, grab a bowl of cereal, and plant yourself in front of the TV to watch cartoons galore! in this cross between a panel and theater of viewing stations, it’s time to once again, experience the nostalgia of some of the greatest cartoon shows around throughout multiple decades.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PANEL
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 2:00 PMSpongebob Squarepants has now become a animation staple in cartoon history with now achieving the longevity of 20 years in television. In this panel we celebrate this epic achievement with a panel like no other, discussing the origins and creation of this cartoon, the creators behind it, an interesting look at the timeline of Spongebob, and so much more!

COOKING WITH KIKI
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 3:00 PM
Ever wanted to make authentic Asian cuisine? Well now’s your chance! That’s right the awesome convention hit Cooking With Kiki is back! and this time it’s even more special since Kiki’s Delivery Service turns 30 years old! In this hands on experience in our event room, join Kiki as she shows you how to make quick Asian food such as dumplings and other delights, that are fast and ready to go. It’s super easy and fun, so join in, and then chow down!

ENTER THE TARDIS
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 4:00 PM

Presented by the Buffalo Time Council, a panel that discusses the incredible everlasting TV series, Dr. Who. With multiple generations of this show, as well as it’s doctors, experience the wonder of it’s past, present, and future. There is very much to learn of the show and much to be discovered. Truely a panel for all fans not to miss!

FANTASY ILLUSTRATION PANEL
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 5:00 PM

Jonathan Myers is an illustrator who has worked for extraordinarily big names such as Marvel, Lucas Films, Disney, and many more. In an incredible panel, Jonathan talks about what it takes to make incredible fantasy artworks with awesome techniques and plus other insites in the industry. So grab a sketch book, some pencils, and your enthusiasm, and check out this amazing panel by one of the masters of fantasy, comics, cartoons, and film.

GUEST PANEL – TIFFANY GRANT
ADAPTING SCRIPTS FOR ENGLISH DUBS
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 6:00 PM
Our awesome guest Tiffany Grant will be conducting a panel on Saturday discussing anime scripts and translation converting adapting to certain localization. It’s an awesome insight into the production of how and why scripts are changed, as well as other interesting insights of scripting for anime and other writings.

MY HERO ACADEMIA “WHAT’S YOUR QUIRK?” SHOWDOWN
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 7:00 PMLet the battle begin! Themed after the acclaimed Manga / Anime series My Hero Academia, we have the funniest and most entertaining crowd interactive panel ever! If you like the Cosplay Dating Game event panels at conventions, you will absolutely love this! In this fun improv event, participants are picked from the audience 2 at a time. They then draw 1 random “quirk” out of a box and then are asked questions pertaining to their superpowers defining what their character is and how they will win a battle against the other person… however there’s a catch…these quirks are and pretty much useless. What’s your superhero name? How would you do battle? What’s you finishing move?! The audience decides the winner! Many participants will be picked to participate in this awesome and hilarious panel!

LIVE MUSICAL GUEST PERFORMANCE – EMCEE M.D.
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 9:00 PM
Musician/Video Game & Tabletop game designer Mark Miller, aka EMCEE M.D. will be performing his unique style of nerdy hip hop about video games, superheroes, and slices of life. If you’re not familiar, with EMCEE M.D. he is a national touring musician, currently slaying the hip hop scene with his versatile style and Nintendo Power Glove. not only is he a musician but he is a video game designer and tabletop / board game designer, heading a company called Ichiban Games out of the Buffalo NY area. Don’t miss to catch some cool fun jams with EMCEE M.D. with a stage show that’s always exciting, as well as interactive…. you might even get a raptor dino hat! And as EMCEE M.D. states, “TIME TO GET ROWDY”!

LIVE VOCALOID CONCERT
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 9:30 PMWho’s ready to dance?! Hatsune Miku and of your favorite Project Diva characters will be there to rock out on stage in an epic live show! A few secret characters just may take the stage as well! Join us and Check out all the Vocaloid fun, and dance your hearts out! Bring your glow sticks and get ready to party!

COSPLAY ON A BUDGET
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 10:30 AMCosplay can be expensive, however there is help! Come check out our panel, COSPLAY ON A BUDGET in our wonderful event room, which we show many tricks of the trade of creating quick and inexpensive cosplay ideas for you to utilize whether it be props, outfits, or other cosplay related items!

IRON COSPLAY
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 11:00 AMAn event that pits teams of cosplayers against each other making the best out of materials in an “Iron Chef” styled fashion. Watch as teams create the most unique items from all sorts of secret surprise materials going head to head in a furious competition for glory and prizes! Join in and get creative!

LEVEL UP – GAME DESIGN PANEL
(PART 1 OF GAME  DESIGN EVENT)
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 12:00 NOONWhether it be exploring mystical lands, duking it out head to head in an over the top fighting fiasco, or solving puzzles in a race against time and space, video games have become one of the biggest sources of fun and play in the world. But how do you design an idea and put it to the screen? Level Up is the first half of an informative game design panel in which game designer Mark Miller of Ichiban Games and Phil Lowerey of Lucid Wolf Studios dive head first and show you all about game design. See the ins and outs of all positions of video gaming, as well as where you can get free tools to even start on game ideas of your own. At the end of the panel there will be even more interaction as you will be able to have a cool brainstorming session  in a game jam styled fashion. Weather you’re an artist, a programmer, writer, voice actor, or just an enthusiast looking to get into the world of video gaming, this panel is for you!

GAME TANK
(PART 2 OF GAME  DESIGN EVENT)
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 1:00 PMDo you have a game idea that you think can be a smash hit? in the first portion of this panel, wecover what it takes to get games published. Then the major fun begins! For the first time ever at LIL-CON we are getting together a “Shark Tank” styled council of publishers, game developers, and game studios, ready to hear the game ideas of publishers looking to pitch their games. See the outcomes and see who who’s got a winning idea. But that’s not all, remember that brainstorming session from the “LEVEL UP” panel, put it to the test before the council, you just might have an idea that is marketing genius!  The best idea gets a trophy of best game design idea and more!

COSPLAY CONTEST
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 2:00 PMThe return of our awesome cosplay contest!!! Held in our event room, we have 2 categories for the event; Walk On and Craftsmanship with some of the most articulate and knowledgeable judges around. The best costume wins it, so dress up in your best costume of ANY kind. Trophies for 1st place, as well as big prizes. Oh and did we mention, the most skilled cosplayer in Craftsmanship competes for a CASH PRIZE! Details on that coming VERY soon! 😉 From Sci-Fi, to Horror, to Video Games, to Comics, to Anime… MAY THE BEST COSPLAYER WIN!!!

VOICE ACTOR PANEL AND Q&A
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 3:00 PM

Our incredible Voice Actor guest Tiffany Grant hosts a free-formed panel of exploring Voice Acting with much insight and stories to tell.  You’ll be able to get a feel for the profession of voice acting and all the fun that comes with it. Plus, within this great time of spending with Tiffany, you can ask questions you’ve always wanted to know about her, her career, voice acting, and more!

SURVIVE
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 4:00 PM

This event in the newest concoction that only LIL-CON could make. in this hilarious cross between a Game show meets a Choose Your Own Adventure, we select participants out of the audience which will then be thrown into a scenario. Survive the dungeon? Survive the anime? Survive the Con?! Who knows what you will get. Participants will be asked a handful of multiple choice questions (one question at a time). Choose wisely because the pathway you choose will determine your fate, and IF YOU SURVIVE!

THE CON-ROAST
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 5:00 PM

The final event panel of the convention that is all things whimsical, reflecting on all the cool stuff that everyone had the chance to do. We will also be talking about what’s in store for future plans, and lots of LIL-CON Q&A. In the spirit of lightheartedness as we portray of good times and jesting…. YOU GET TO “ROAST” THE CON DIRECTOR!

Feel free to also help and donate towards Will and and his friends in the advance of rescue and rehabilitation of all wildlife. Don’t miss this amazing event!

THE WRITERS BLOCK:
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 3:00 PM
Come all ye writers! Join published Author and Actress Roselyn Kasmire and Writer/Video Game Designer Kendall Pribe in an exhilarating panel on the creative writing process, and what it takes to bring your ideas to form. Discussion about publishing, and what makes your work the best it can be. Not a panel to be missed!

ARCADE HISTORY
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 4:00 PM
Back in the 70’s and 80’s the Arcade was a habitat for video gamers to meet, play, and explore the newest hottest games of the era. In this incredible panel/display, our published arcade historian Sara Zielinski discusses the Birth, Golden Age, “Death”, and Resurgence of the arcade, with not only her vast knowledge, but with pictures and old arcade flyers. For anyone who loves the arcade, this is a must go to event!

THE FINAL FRONTIER
DAY 2 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 5:00 PMBeam up and scan this incredible panel about our beloved Sci-Fi universes, mainly the ones that take place in space. From Star Trek to Red Dwarf, Babylon 5 to Battlestar Galactica, and more, this panel warps you into the worm hole of science fiction, encountering the interesting lifeforms within it as well as arnadas, fleets, and space battles galore.  Engage!

THE HISTORY OF BOARD GAMING
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 6:00 PM

Our incredible historian of lore and knowledge Kelly Menzel is back with an incredible panel that shows the history of Tabletop / Board Gaming. Board Games, Card, Games, Dice, RPGs and more, check out this amazing presentation that shows gaming throughout the ages! Experience the wonder of gaming at it’s source and through the creativity of its passion found by many over the coarse of history. A perfect panel for any gamer that should not be missed!

HORROR FROM THE EAST
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 7:00 PMIn this panel , explore the mundane and terrifying aspects of awesome horror films of asia, and even more specifically Korean Horror. Gore, oddities, and more await to be discovered in this in depth panel of film, and absolute terror.

THE UNIVERSE OF GUNDAM
DAY 1 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH AT 8:00 PM
presented by Gunpla KnightsThis panel encompases 1 of the most iconic anime/manga series to have ever graced our time. Brought to you by the biggest Gundam enthusiasts in WNY, The Gunpla Knights, this panel shows each series in it’s entirety from the original history to current, and even some not so known Gundam showings. Explore the interesting inner working of the unique Gundam Battle suits, and the star system they reside. Not only does this panel engage in the enriched history of this fandom, but you get a chance to check out the awesome models of the toy line. A panel not to be missed by any anime/manga fan.  Time to suit up!

In this panel presented by FIRST, take an in depth look at robotics and the amazing technology and programing behind them. learn about AI, machine learning, and more, as well as many awesome robots on display that you can interact with! 

HAUNTING GROUND
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 2PM

Spirits and entities are all around us. Skeptical? Come join The Buffalo Niagara Paranormal Society in a panel that delves into the field of ghost hunting, where you can see and hear the evidence that has been caught from locations here in the area and from afar, as well as seeing all the cool equipment that is used to expose them. Step into the haunting ground!

ANTHROPOMORPHIC
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 3PM
For the fursuiters who’ve given us great support over the many years, we are throwing a whimsical panel for all the furry fandom. Discussions for building suits, artwork, characters, and more will be had, with great people who support the community strongly. Stop in, have some fun, and enjoy.

LEGACY PANEL OF DICK “THE DESTROYER” BEYER
DAY 2 – SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH AT 4PM
We introduce a panel that celebrates the life of a world renowned professional wrestling legend hailing from Western NY, that came to be one of the the most iconic professional wrestlers in history. known as The Destroyer, the first ever masked wrestler, this panel embraces his wrestling legacy and how his likeness has resonated through wrestling, touching multiple cultures throughout the world, especially in Japan and the USA, plus a media icon that will transcend  into eternity.
